My Life In Disney

What I say to my friend when she says " he's changed."

When I realize how much work has to be done with only one week of summer school left.

How I look when I eat breakfast & read blogs

My typical reaction to when my friends tell me a story

My answer when my parents ask what I spent my money on all month

When I take Seth shopping, I think he'll act like this

But he really acts like this

How I feel when I have to get up for Friday classes

When my mom says I can make my own food because I'm an adult now

My reaction when Seth falls asleep on the couch after a long day at work

How next week is going to be when I'm studying for my final

How I wake up every morning

How I feel when I realize I get to go home & see my family and boyfriend this weekend

Crystal from Billie Jean

Happy Monday everyone!! I'm having another one of my favorite bloggers take over today. This lovely lady shares her life as a new mommy and wifey, her exquisite taste for fashion , and her love for all things vintage.

Meet Crystal from Billie Jean
Introduce yourself & tell us a little bit about your blog.
Hello guys & dolls! My name is Crystal and my blog is, Billie Jean! I am a young mom, young wife, blogger, Etsy shop owner, jewelry maker & “recent” college graduate. It’s been about a year that I graduated (not so recent), but after all that time & money spent, I feel as though I need to throw that in somewhere, right? I think my parents would agree! And for whatever reason, people don’t think that I have a college education because I have a baby. Yeah, this girl, finished school while pregnant. It was hard, believe me, but people can do & accomplish whatever they set their hearts to. Anyways, my blog is about my life & how I take on all of these roles: mother, wife, entrepreneur, & blogger. I have a crazy life, but it is a beautiful life!

Who or What inspired you to start blogging?

The recent events in my life like getting pregnant & then married while still being in school, is what inspired me to start my blog. My year in 2011 was hectic & life changing. I have a lot to say, and I have quite a bit going on in my life so I figured that a blog would be a great way for me to showcase my life & feelings. Also, most girls my age don’t have what I have going on. It used to be “the norm” to have babies by 23, and now it is not. I had quite a lot of people pass judgment on me because of how young I was when I got pregnant. But what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger…and give you something to start a blog about!

I also needed another “space” to put all my pictures of my daughter, because I’m sure that my facebook friends were starting to get annoyed with all the pictures I would post. Ha-ha. Sorry guys! The point that I want to make with my blog is that, life doesn’t turn out how you always plan for it to. It is those curveballs and unexpected events that put you exactly where you need to be. I wouldn’t go back and change a thing.

Also, the name for my blog was inspired by two of my grandmothers: Billie Loree and Sandra Jean. Sorry guys, Michael Jackson was NOT my inspiration. I have such a passion for collecting vintage, retro & antique “things.” I love past decades, the way they dressed, the way their homes were decorated, and just the time frames in general (20s to the 90s). My blog design is vintage inspired, because I feel like that style sums me up pretty well. With that said, the name (Billie Jean) and the design compliment one another well. I put a lot of time into the layout, look & feel of my blog. I want everything to be cohesive. I also try to post about the vintage items in my home that I purchase from Etsy, garage sales & local thrift stores. But back to the name, my grandmothers have both passed but they still inspire me everyday from just about everything that I do. Having their names put together for my blog name is my way of showing my appreciation for them.

What blog is a daily read for you?
Oh gosh. I’d have to say Bleubird. I started reading her blog before I started mine. Her blog was actually the only blog I read. I really wasn’t into “blog reading” until I started mine. I was about 7 or 8 months pregnant and since her blog is so family-oriented, I really connected with her and all of her maternity posts. I actually just sat in bed one morning & read her blog for hours (that was actually the day I found her blog). One of my friends used to model for her vintage shop that she had on eBay. I was trying to find her shop & then stumbled across her blog. Now, I’m addicted to her posts. Can’t get enough! I actually sponsor her blog too!

What do you do when you’re not blogging?
A LOT! First, I drink lots & lots of coffee or else I don’t know how I’d make it through the day. While I am not blogging, I am chasing Tory around the house, pulling random objects out of her mouth, making bottles, changing diapers, cleaning the house, writing emails, taking pictures, making jewelry for my Etsy shop, or just taking a moment for myself. I used to underestimate mothers & wives. I used to laugh when women would say that being a parent is a “job.” Now that I am one, I feel bad for passing on so many judgmental thoughts onto those who really should be given so much respect & love. Being a Mama is a FULL TIME JOB! No wonder that people make careers out of being a nanny, because it is a lot of work! But it is never-ending. I don’t get a break at 5 o clock. I am a parent 24/7 for the rest of my life! I don’t think I’ll ever sleep again!

What's one thing you've learned through blogging that you want to share with fellow bloggers?
Build positive, healthy relationships with other bloggers. They are your biggest support system. They are in the same position as you, so help them out & they will help you out in return. You get more flies with honey.

Thanks Crystal for taking over today!!
Now I think it's about that time that y'all go check out her wonderful blog!!

Sunday Social

I'm linking up with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup.

What is your dream job?
Wedding planner, owner of an animal shelter (clearly I'm a sucker for animals). & a mommy.
There's no way I can only pick one.

If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
Oh goodness, definitely blog more. Duhhh : ) Volunteer or start an animal shelter. Travel with my wonderful boyfriend and family . & of course try everything I've pinned on Pinterest (recipes, decorate, craft, etc. )

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Disney Princess.
Think about it. You have perfect hair, can sing wherever you go (& everyone sings join in,) and you end up with the man of your dreams and live happily ever after. Can I still be this when I  "grow up?"

What piece career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
Well since I'm the one who is about to start looking for a career soon, I'd love to hear y'alls advice : )

Biggest Pet Peeves either in life or in blogging or at work:
I'm gonna have to go with ..... not waving when I let you over while driving. It's just common courtesy people. Please just send a nice wave or thanks my way : ) That's all I ask.

Meet Carissa, from Eskimo Kisses.

Eeeeek : ) Happy Friday Everyone!
Today we have one lovely lady taking over! I'm so excited to introduce y'all to one of my favorite bloggers.
She has the cutest blog, shares all about her life as a new wifeyy, is super sweet, and has the most adorable family. So here she is..

Meet Carissa, from Eskimo Kisses.

Introduce yourself & tell us a little bit about your blog.
Hello there! My name is Carissa and I am a silly redheaded girl going on 21 and already married to my high school sweetheart, Michael. He is a firefighter in the military and if you're familiar with the military then you know they make a lot of the decisions, like where you live for example, and they decided we should live in Anchorage, Alaska of all places! Our first choice? No. But we're learning that it doesn't really matter where we live because I swear being newlyweds would be fun in a cardboard box. I blog about marriage, Alaska, our Saint Bernard puppy Walter, decorating and learning how to be a good wifey.

Who or What inspired you to start blogging?
I started blogging in 2010 when I first started reading A Beautiful Mess... who ISN'T inspiring by Elsie, right? Her blog was so pretty and quirky that it got my creative juices flowing and I just had to start a blog. I also craved a space where I could document emotions and events in my life that I, otherwise, would've forgotten.

What blog is a daily read for you?
There is no way I can choose just one. I love to go through a ton of blogs each day when I get on my laptop. Here's a quick list: Dear Family, Busy Bee Lauren, Dear Opal, His Little lady, all of the girls linked on my blog and more. And Kaitlin of course (duh!).

What do you do when you're not blogging?
Other than hanging out with my little family, I love to go thrifting. It's so fun to take an old crummy piece of furniture and make it into something you love! For example, the bed shown in the photo was a $200 cherry wood bed frame and I almost didn't give it a second thought until I realized I could give it a major makeover, so that's what I did and I am in love. I also enjoy crafting, painting and drawing.

What's one thing you've learned through blogging that you want to share with fellow bloggers?
Keep writing! So many times I wanted to stop because I felt like nobody was reading it. If I did quit then I would've missed out on so many great friendships I've made through blogging. When I made time for writing regularly I enjoyed it so much more. And guess what? I got more readers by doing that too. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to your favorite bloggers! Shoot them an email introducing yourself and I bet they'll be thrilled to meet a reader.

Thanks Carissa for taking over today : )
Now I think it's about that time that y'all go check out her lovely blog!!

Sometimes & Always #2

Sometimes: I take a nap for 2 hours during the day.
Always: Feel sleepy for the rest of the day. Then when it's time to go to bed, I'm wide awake.

Sometimes: I get tired of dating long distance.
Always: Love my boyfriend & wouldn't trade him for anyone else in the world. (So long distance it is.)

Sometimes: I want to skip ahead to the future. Say 2 years from now?
Always: Focus on the present and cherish each day : )

Sometimes: I get lonely because I live by myself.
Always: Love the fact that I can keep my place clean and the way that I like it.

Sometimes: I don't want to watch my boyfriends favorite shows.
Always: Remember that he is more than willing to watch mine. So I make an effort to watch his.

Sometimes: I dream about moving to Alaska once I'm done with college.
Always: Realize I'd miss my family & friends. Maybe I should visit first?

Sometimes: I just want to have a quiet afternoon with my puppies, but they go nuts and are all wound up.
Always: Love them no matter what. They're adorable, how can I not?

Sometimes: I dread the decision of taking summer classes.
Always: Remind myself that I decided to take them so that my last semester of school will be a breeze and not overloaded.

Chocolate Covered Oreo Balls

Time to take a break from studying for my test tomorrow!

I decided to share this recipe for CHOCOLATE COVERED OREO BALLS.
It's super easy and no bake!

List of ingredients:
- One box of Oreos
- 8 oz. of Cream Cheese
-  Baker's Chocolate Squares

Step 1: Grab a ziploc  baggie & crush ALL the oreos

Step 2: Combine Oreo Crumbs & Cream Cheese In A Bowl

Step 3: Scoop The Mix Into "Ball" Shapes Onto The Wax Paper
(I Found It Easier To Use A Small Ice Cream Scoop)

Step 4: Put Them Into The Freezer. Freeze For About 2 Hours.
(This Will Make It Easier When Dipping Them In Chocolate)

Step 5: Melt ALL Of The Baker's Chocolate Squares & Dip Oreo Mix

Step 6: Let Them Dry & Enjoy :)

Let me know if you try this recipe, and how it turns out!!

Link Up.

I decided to link up with Chalk In The Rain & answer the "Is That Normal" questions.
But here's the catch! You have to also ask the questions to a guy in your life.
So meet Seth.
Obviously he gave all the "HIM" answers.

1. Is it normal for 2 men to hug?

ME: Well sure, if they know each other of course! Isn't that how guys greet each other anyway? (Insert cool handshake, chest bump, & one of those "bro" hugs.)

HIM: Yeah I think so! Men mainly hug to greet one another if they haven't seen each other in a long time. If it's more than one in one meeting, i'd be worried.

2. Is it normal to gag on your toothbrush while brushing?
ME: Are you sticking your toothbrush down your throat? Ha!

HIM: Haha yes it is. Some people have really sensitive gag reflexes just by brushing their teeth but most gag when they brush their tongue.

3. Is it normal to wear the same bra daily?

ME: Depends on the top I'm wearing & what type of bra you wear it with. But ewww don't go wearing the bra you profusely sweat in & stink up from the day before. Icky.

HIM: You're asking the wrong person, toots.

4. Is it normal for grown women to frequently use the words "like" or "um" while speaking?

ME: Yup. Yupppp. Yuppperrrss.. Sadly these two words are used too frequent when some grown women speak.

HIM: Haha yes unfortunately even though it drives me crazy!!!

5. Is it normal to eat cake batter/ dough?
ME: Duh. Where do you think half the batter goes when I'm baking? Just kidding. Kinda sorta.

HIM: Cake no! But cookie dough is a different story!! ( Insert big smile) : )

6. Is it normal to go "commando" in public/at work?

ME: Sure, I guess? But I sure don't.

HIM: Different guys have different preferences.

7. Is it normal to have long toenails?

ME: Ew. Ewww. Ewwww. Cut those bad boys! Pronto.

HIM: No! Keep those suckers cut at all times!!

8. Is it normal to try on an article of clothing in the middle of the store?

ME: It just depends on the article of clothing. But sure!

HIM: Ummm if you really like it, yes.

ME: So you'd try on pants in the middle of the store?!

HIM: You know it!!

ME:  You're nuts.

9. Is it normal to tell someone to be quiet or "shhhh" someone in a quiet setting? ie. church, movie theater, meeting, etc.

ME: Of course! Everyone needs to be respectful of others and our surroundings.

HIM: Ha! I think it's better to tell them to shut up

ME: Always a charmer, Seth.

10. Is it normal to change clothes multiple times before leaving the house?

ME: That's every girl's biggest habit in my opinion. But oh well  : )

HIM: For girls, yes. For guys, no. If guys did, it'd be a little to feminine.

Oh! & if you get a second...

DIY String Heart

Of course as soon as I saw this online, I had to make my own version for my room!

Materials You Need:
String- $5.99 from Lowes
Nails- $3.49 from Lowes
Spray Paint- $4.99 from Lowes
Wood- Provided by boyfriend's work

Step 1: Spray paint the wood whatever color you choose. I chose Satin Black.

Step 2: After paint has dried, tape a piece of paper to the wood, & outline a heart. ( This will make it easier when hammering the nails into a heart shape.)

Step 3: Hammer the nails along the outline of the heart.

Step 4: Tear off paper & begin weaving the string in ANY DIRECTION AND WAY you want. Have fun with it :)

This project turned out to be super easy & it only took a few hours!!

I found this idea off of Green Wedding Shoes.

"It's Okay" Thursday

Hello, sweet friends!

I decided to link up with Amber & Neely to try "It's Okay" Thursday.

It's Okay..

to like Instagram more than Facebook.

to sing in the car & have someone drive by staring at you. (At least they know i'm having fun)

to give a compliment to a stranger, just because they look like they could use one.

to start your to-do list with a task you've already done.

to  laugh so hard when telling a funny story that you can’t get the words out. Then, when you do finally speak, no one else finds it funny.

to always have your camera ready, even if your friends and family roll their eyes as soon as it appears.

to expect your boyfriend to offer you a piggyback the minute your heels start hurting.

to have really high expectations of my (future) home, thanks to pinterest.

It has been raining all week!!
Something about the rain makes me want to curl up on my couch with my blanket & pups, watch Netflix, read blogs, and sip on a nice warm cup of coffee.

But before I do that, I thought I would share this website with the cutest rain boots!!

Any other suggestions on where to get cute rainboots?!

Somtimes & Always

Sometimes: I'm not sure what life will bring.
Always: Be grateful for everyone & everything you have and all the blessing in your life.

Sometimes: Spend countless hours watching reality shows/reading blogs.
Always: Realize that everyone deserves some down time to just relax.

Sometimes: I hate when  people write about their life on social media sites, and others just decide it's okay to tear them down.
Always: Remember that everyone is facing some kind of problem in their life. We should only try to encourage and build others up.

Sometimes: I go "paparazzi" on my puppies.
Always: Love looking back at all their pictures & memories.

Sometimes: It hits me how blessed I'am to have such an amazing best friend/ boyfriend.
Always: Want to be the best girlfriend I can be to him.

Ellie got fixed today & I just had to share a funny picture of her wearing her cone

Made with love & a dash of cinnamon

Craving some homemade cinnamon rolls? Well I'll do you one better.
Try homemade sweet sugary "heart shaped" cinnamon rolls.
This recipe was surprisingly easy, & these heart shaped cinnamon rolls are to die for.

1 cup milk
1- .25 ounce packages of dry active yeast (not rapid rising)
1/4 cup warm water
1/6 cup sugar
1/6 cup vegetable oil
1/2 Tbs baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 egg (to get a 1/2 of an egg, beat egg in a ramekin and pour out half of it)
3 1/2 cups flour

2 Tbs butter, softened
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp cinnamon

4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
4 Tbs milk

Heat milk in a small saucepan until it bubbles, stirring frequently so it doesn’t burn. Remove from heat and let cool until it’s lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast into 1/4 cup of warm water and let stand for 10 minutes, or until creamy.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the dough hook, combine yeast mixture, warm milk, sugar, oil, baking powder, salt, egg and 2 cups of flour. Mix until the dough is smooth. Slowly add remaining flour and mix until well combined. Knead dough on low speed for 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place dough in lightly oiled bowl, covered, and let sit for 1 hour in a dry, warm place.
Grease two 9-inch pans with butter and set aside.
Once the dough has doubled in size (about 1-2 hours), punch dough and place on a lightly floured surface. Roll out into a rectangle, about 13 inches in length. Using an off-set spatula, apply butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. To roll the dough, roll in each long side towards the middle. Cut the log into twelve 1-inch rolls. Pinch the bottom of each roll to make the bottom point of the heart. Place six rolls in each pan, spaced slightly apart. Cover and refrigerate overnight, for at least 12 hours.
The next day, take rolls out of the refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for 45 minutes to an hour. Preheat oven to 350F while rolls are resting. Also, make icing by mixing the icing ingredients in a bowl with an electric mixer.
Bake cinnamon rolls uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Ice while warm.
