DIY Candy Cane Wreath

A sparkly candy cane colored wreath is just what you need for your front door this holiday season.
Trust me. This bad boy is noticeable even from across the street.
If you're looking to stray away from your traditional wreath then here's what you need to make.

It's super easy, but definitely takes A LOT of time.

Materials:
One foam wreath- Mine was 16"
1/2 yard of Muslin
1 yard of Fabric- I used Red Sparkle Felt
1 yard of Fabric- I used Plain White Felt
A pack of Straight Pins
Ribbon of your choice.

Step 1: Tear and attach the Muslin to the foam wreath. (About 2 inch strips all the way across, doesn't have to be perfect) Attach on the back with Straight Pins.

Step 2: Cut all your fabric (both colors) into 4 X 4 squares. (They don't have to be perfect) Fold diagonally. Then fold it diagonally one more time. It should look like the picture above. Then stick Straight Pin through the corner.

Step 3: Take your folded piece of fabric with the push pin and start pinning a line around the wreath. (Pin the front, and both sides, not the back)
Make sure you pack it close together! The more fabric the better.

Step 4: Add your bow

Wahhh Laaaa.
You're done. & your door looks beautiful!

DIY Light Up Tacky Sweater

Since it's right around the holidays, it seems like EVERYONE, and I mean everyone, is looking for tacky/ugly sweaters to wear to their holiday parties.
You see them online.. too expensive.
You see them in stores.. too expensive.
You can't figure out how to make your own? Look no further.

I'm going to show you how to make the Ultimate Tacky Sweater. (Which lights up of course)

Materials:
1 Sweater (Can be ANY color/size) - Walmart
1 Set of Gold String Beads - Hobby Lobby
Hot Glue Gun- Already Had
3 Packs of Battery Operated Lights- Michaels
Scissors- Already Had

Optional:
Needle
Thread
3 3x4 Material to make pockets

Step 1: Layout your sweater. Outline in block letters what exactly you want your sweater to say.

Step 2: Take the hot glue gun and outline each letter. (I would do one letter at a time so that the glue doesn't dry too fast)

Step 3: Your going to place the Gold String Beads on top of the hot glue and outline your letter. (You'll probably have to cut the beads to make it fit the outline!)

Step 4: Use the edge of your scissors and cut a few tiny slits through each block letter. Stick lights halfway through, and hot glue near the hole so they don't move.

Now you're pretty much done. EXCEPT, what are you going to do with the battery packs that are attached?!

You have 2 options:

1) You can wear jeans or pants with pockets and set the battery pack inside your own pockets.
2) You can sew a few pieces of fabric into the INSIDE of your sweater and set the battery pack in there.

I have done option 1 before , but we tried option 2, and I must say, it's a lot more comfortable.

Optional Part:
Take your fabric, needle, and thread. Hand sew pocket on the inside of the sweater. (We put 3 pockets inside mine) One on EACH SIDE , level with my hips. And the last one is in the very front, about an inch from the bottom of the sweater.

You're going to only sew the left/right/bottom part of the fabric, so that you can insert the battery pack through the top. **Make sure you put the switch at the top, when setting the battery pack in the pocket! It makes it easier to turn lights on/off.

Wahhhh Laaaaa. You're done.
Now go rock you're fabulous tacky or in my case, TAC-E sweater.

Natalie over at Adventures as Mrs. Janney sent me my ornament.

It has a Christmas tree on both sides and has little gems and stars hanging from them! And my absolute favorite part is all the little snow balls that swish back and forth when you hang it!
She did a PERFECT job at picking out my ornament! Thanks, girl!

I swapped with Tracy over at Someday Sunday !!
Go check out the ornament I had made for her and her sweet family!!
