I said yes to the dress

I still don't think it's hit me, but I purchased MY WEDDING DRESS yesterday.
Isn't that something you dream about since you were a little girl?
Who you were going to marry. Where your wedding was going to be. What colors you were going to use. Who was going to be there. And of course, what your wedding dress was going to look like.

I can finally add that to my list of things to check off for the wedding.
I also surprised my bestiessss & asked them officially to be in the wedding!

Here's a little recap of our day!

First stop: David's Bridal.

This was not the best experience. We had made an appointment and my oh my there were way too many people there. I don't think any of us could really focus or take in the dresses I was trying on because we were so jammed packed next to all the other Bride-to-be's.

I also couldn't believe that all the dresses I thought I loved on paper, were not for me when I tried on. Let me tell you, if your short.. DO NOT GET A SUPER POOFY DRESS.

Next stop: Alfred Angelo.

We didn't stop to shop here. We went to see the Special Cinderella Diamond Collection.

There may or may not have been wedding cake to snack on..

Time for a lunch break. Cheesecake Factory it is!

Then it was time to surprise my girls with a little something something..

Last stop: Venturas.

I brought in one picture of the dress I wanted to try on. Turns out..

I absolutely loved my experience at Venturas. They were all so sweet & devoted their time to you and only you. I would definitely recommend going there because they also have FABULOUS PRICES.

Want to see my wedding dress?
You're going to have to wait until the wedding day!!

Kait's Engagement

Finally in the swing of things, which means..
I'll be back with my own blog posts!

But I'm thinking this particular engagement story is just the way to end my week of engagements.
Read and you'll see what I mean.
I'm so excited to introduce this next girly and her adorable engagement story!!

I am so excited Kaitlin is letting me guest post today, because after coming down off the high of my engagement, I realized we were proposed to on the very same night! How fun?!

You know, that moment you've waiting your whole life for?
Well mine came to me in my bathroom.

Hold up, what?
Let's back up a little bit, shall we?

I'm Kait and my fiance is Dane. I blog over at GridIron Lipstick and Dane and I actually met through the US Postal Service. I kid you not, you can read more about that here. We also foster a 5,000+ mile long distance relationship. Yes, it's as awful as it sounds, but we make the best of it AND vacationing in Hawaii isn't so bad ;)

So now that you're up-to-speed. Dane was home for Christmas for three weeks..imagine my excitement! Being a normal couple for almost a month was nothing short of amazing, but the day before he left I was feeling pretty bummed.

I worked a normal day and, at Dane's suggestions, we were going to our favorite Thai restaurant for dinner AND a cute frozen yogurt place for dessert.

So he tells me he will pick me up at 6PM and at 6:15 he was no where to be found and I was 4 seconds shy of gnawing off my forearm. Needless to say I was waiting at the door, coat on, purse in hand.

At 6:30 one very flustered Dane rolls into my house and I'm fit to be tied, because how can you be mad at this face?

He's yammering on and on to my parents and all I want to do is say CUT TO THE CHASE, I'M STARVING! So he dashes up the stairs exclaiming he's got something on his face that he needs me to examine under the light in the bathroom.

Uhhh, are you kidding me?

So I stomp up the stairs after him and as I round the corner I hear him turning on the shower.

What the heck?

As I walk into the bathroom he hits play on his phone and "You Are The Best Thing" by Ray LaMontagne started playing and he said "I know you probably expected me to propose in Niagara Falls (we had just been there for New Year's Eve), but the truth is...I've been falling for you ever since the day I met you. There are three things in my life that are important--life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...and ever since I've been pursuing you, you've made me the happiest man alive..."

CAN YOU SAY SWOON? And before you ask, no I didn't cry. I'm not a crier.

Except for right after I accepted THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RING ever created (I MIGHT be a little biased), Dane told me we actually had reservations at one of the nicest restaurants in town AND he had changed his flight reservation from Friday to Saturday.

So then I cried. The ugly, happy, over-the-moon-fill-your-entire-body-with-happiness cry.

And I haven't stopped smiling since.

Hallie's Engagement

Happy Monday!! I can't wait for you to read

I met my fiance in the summer of 2010. I was moving to Florida from Minnesota and knew absolutely NOBODY! I was so nervous to get down to a place I had never been before and be all alone. So I turned to the horrible dreaded dating websites to try to find some friends. I never had any intentions of finding a boyfriend, or someone to get involved with. I just wanted to meet some people who could introduce me to the town and show me around. That was when I met Porter.

We started talking, and I told him about moving down and knowing nobody, and he offered to show me around town. He had lived in Sarasota his whole life and knew the place like the back of his hand. He was such a doll. Our talking turned in to daily, than hourly, and by the time I had my car packed ready to go we were texting by the minute. After all the countless phone calls, skype dates, and thousands of texts I was so ready to meet this boy who, I am not going to lie, I was definitely falling for. I kept telling myself the whole 27 hour ride down there that I needed to not go in to this about him. I really needed to find myself in this trip, after all, that's why I decided to move. I always needed to make sure that my priorities came first, and finding the right guy would come when the time was right.

I arrived in Florida at midnight on September 27th, 2010. I drove directly past my new apartment and right to the beach to meet this incredible guy.

a) thinking about it now, I just told myself my priorities needed to be straight, driving straight to the beach after driving 27 straight hours. Not very smart.
b) I am meeting a guy, at midnight, in a town I barley know. I was so dumb.

but it turned out amazing! We walked the beach, talked like we knew each other forever and I had a constant smile. He had always told me that whenever the time was right to have a first kiss it needed to be special.. He grabbed my hand led me up to the red lifeguard stand over looking the entire beach and the crashing waves and kissed me for the first time, and I fell head over heels for that boy at that very second.

Fast forward through a new house, a new puppy, and a year and half later.

On March 7th, Porter asked me to walk the beach. It was a perfect night out and he was feeling energetic. I thought it was weird but I never turn down a walk on the beach! He told me he had to use the bathroom and than we would go. At this point I had though countless times that he would propose at certain moments and always let myself down. So at this point I was over expecting a ring. We hopped in the car, and headed on our way. When we arrived the moon was so bright and the night was incredibly perfect! He told me he wanted to head to the lifeguard stand because had not been there since our first kiss. He once again grabbed my hand and led me up to the red lifeguard stand. We watched the waves crash against the shore with the big, bright moon and a clear night sky. He gave a little tug on my shirt, I swatted him away, because well, he picks on me all the time and after a second, little more forceful tug I turned around to the moment I had been waiting for my whole life. My handsome 6 foot 5 boyfriend was sitting there on his knee with a ring box.

The moment I saw that sight I lost it, I couldn't honestly even tell you what he said, I am not even sure if the words "will you marry me?" ever left his mouth, because I started hysterically crying and saying "yes!!!" He presented me with his grandmother's ring, which didn't even need to be sized as it fit PERFECTLY! That is some glass slipper stuff right there, and obviously his grams and me had some gooooood fingers! :) It's amazing and a honor to be able to wear this ring. Not only as a symbol that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend, and soul mate. It also symbolizes the eternal love of Porter's grandparents who I have heard nothing but good things about, I am a very very very lucky girl!

Caitlin's Engagement

Meet Caitlin from Fierce, Fabulous and Fit and her precious engagement story!

Zach and I met when I was 21 and 22 years old. I knew after 2 weeks that I wanted to be with him. We just connected on our love for musicals, being close to our families and making one another laugh. 4 years later I kept thinking why hasn't he asked me to marry him? We certainly had talked about it several times ( I even picked up the "dream ring" I wanted!) but nothing was happening..

I left for Europe for a month with my sister and loved my time over there. We bonded, had a fabulous time and then I came home only to be whisked off 48 hours later to go to Jamaica with Zach and his family for his sister's wedding. (rough life I tell you ha).

The entire plane ride down I was out of sorts because of jet leg coming back from Europe. Zach seemed out of it as well, seeming to be very quiet and not really himself. I honestly had no idea what was in store for me. (Maybe he had too many Red Stripes on the way down to the hotel)

We arrived at the hotel, a gorgeous sunny morning in Negril and Zach and I were lead to our hotel room. The woman who was walking with us began chatting about the room, when Zach cut her off and said that he wanted to show me something in the room. I gave him quiet the look considering he was being rude to this poor woman who was just trying to do her job, but then began to realize what was happening as soon as I walked through the door.

And then I  freaked out, cried and screamed... THIS IS HAPPENING?! That's right ladies.. I remember a few of the words that Zach was saying, laughing and shaking at the same time because of course its a big deal for the guys too ;)

And we lived happily ever after!

Crystal's Engagement

Hi Everyone! My name is Crystal and I just started blogging a few weeks ago. I blog over at Girl Meets Product . I'd just like to start out my guest blog post by congratulating Kaitlin on her engagement! It's probably one of the most exciting times of any girls life! Just finally knowing who you will spend the rest of your life with from dreaming of this day since we were all little girls is so amazing! I wish her all the best!

I'd now like to share my story of how I got engaged!! The date was July 7, 2011 and my now fiancĂ© Martin, and I were actually vacationing for one week in Rome and one week in Greece (Amazing, I know!!). I can remember that day so clearly and I still remember exactly what I was wearing. We went back to the hotel after 10 minutes because I wanted to be fancy and wear these wedged heels, not a good idea if you plan on site seeing all day! After I changed my shoes, we headed out for the day! If anyone's ever been to Rome, it gets hot and I mean HOT in Rome during the day. We were walking all around aimlessly, or so I thought all day! I was sweating and so uncomfortable! We walked all across the city to the Trevi Fountain, it was so crowded we could barely move. We threw our coins into the fountain and headed back for the hotel.

The day was long and tiring! I wanted to go back to the hotel, shower and get something to eat. We were almost there! I could see the hotel a few blocks ahead when my then boyfriend decided it would be nice to walk up this HUGE hill and walk through the park. I looked at him like he was crazy, but happily obliged. I was walking down the path when I noticed he wasn't walking beside me. I turn around and he's fishing through his backpack. What happens next is something I would never have expected. Just typing this now gave me chills! I turn around and there he is on one knee! It all happened so fast and I could not stop shaking! Those 4 words still echo in

my mind and I will never forget how he said them to me! We kissed and hugged and I could not stop looking around as if someone was going to pop out and say, just kidding! But nope, it was real and I was engaged! My ring was perfect, it fit just right and shined like nothing I've ever seen before. I quickly called my parents and they were so happy for me! It was such a perfect day! Who gets engaged in Rome with the Colosseum in the background?!

Flash forward a year and a half and we are still engaged. We are currently in the beginning stages of planning our destination wedding to Mexico which is set for January 2014. We are living in NYC together with our dog and our new kitten and I couldn't ask for a more perfect life!

Melissa's Engagement

Heyyyyy. I'm Melissa from Persnickety Plates stopping by to share my engagement story with you guys.

First, congrats to Kaitlin!! Having a secret photographer?! That was pretty much the cutest thing ever.
And the pictures look like scenes from a movie. Gorgeous.

My story was quite a few years ago already & there was no photographer. And it was in my living room. But  it still makes me happy so I'm excited to tell it.

It was Halloween 2008. I came home from work to a large box (that I thought had come in the mail)
filled with the following:

First I opened the bride & groom dolls (which is actually a quinceanera doll - he couldn't find a brunette bride!) I was confused. Then I opened the picture of him holding a ring box.
When I turned around, Mr. was on his knee holding the ring. =)

Though I kinda knew it was coming (I might have gotten a manicure the day before in anticipation...ha), I was still surprised and excited that he put the whole thing together. I had nothing to do with picking out my ring and I think that made it even more special.

Here's a selfiee we took, right after.

And here's a couple of my favorite professional engagement photos. I JUST realized we wore the same colors for our engagement pics that we did on the day we got engaged. haha

Congrats again, Kaitlin! Happy wedding planning! It's a lot of fun =)

Sarah's Engagement

School starts Monday.  Only ONE more semester & then..
I graduate.
I get to be near family again.
I will no longer be dating Seth LONG DISTANCE.

So with me soaking up as much family/friend time and then moving back to school and getting started, I asked a few of my favorite ladies to share their engagement stories with you for the next week or so. I'm personally all about weddings these days..
1) Because I want to be a Wedding Planner & love hearing everyone's story

So meet sweet Sarah from Love, Sarah K!!

So...I decided to share my story with you!
I wish I could say that my proposal was one from a fairy tale book, but it wasn't.
I wanted it be cleverly thought out and with all my friends present. Yeah, right!

I was really adamant that my husband ask my parents for my hand in marriage. (You know, the old fashioned way)

Thursday night:
He did, but he called my MOM, who isn't the best person to keep a secret. He really should have called my DAD. My mom told my grandma who got excited and told the rest of the extended family in Georgia. I still had no clue that he even asked.

Sunday morning: (3 days later)
Text from cousin in GA: "SARAH! I heard you're engaged!"
Me: "What?? I'm not engaged!"
(Okay, now when I tell you that I'm not engaged, you should really stop talking, but NO she kept going)
Cousin: "Yeah, I heard your bf bought you a ring."
(WHAT THE... Why would you tell me that he bought me a ring??)
(Conclusion: We're the same age and she's always been a step ahead of me in life and now it was my turn! I was getting married first. She was jealous and sabotaged my moment)
Me:  "Uh... Thanks a lot. I had no idea."
She then calls me and says, "OMG! I didn't mean to ruin it for you. Your mom called all of us to tell us that you were engaged and that your bf bought the ring."
(Yeah right, liar!)

If I got engaged I'd totally tell my family first. Why did she have to open her mouth???

I guess I could have kept it a secret, but I was fuming! I blurted it out to Hyung that I knew he bought a ring. Now he was devastated b/c it ruined the moment. He said the element of surprise was gone and no matter what he planned I would know when the proposal was coming.
Well, now that the cat was out of the bag, I told Hyung to just hand over the ring b/c there was no point in waiting for a proposal to happen, but he said no.

Here's how he ended up proposing. We were making dinner at my house. I was in sweats and a long sleeve shirt. We had just finished eating when my mother-in-law calls me with, "DID HE PROPOSE YET?"
Hyung over hears and rolls his eyes. I laugh and say, "No. He hasn't."
She says, "Well, tell him to hurry up."
And then she hangs up. Foreshadow? I think so. But seriously we can't catch a break!
I'm emotionally exhausted at this point so Hyung gives me a hug. He then starts talking about some sweet things about how much I mean to him... etc... and I still have no idea what he's doing as he fumbles in his pocket. He takes out a velvet box. The pillow cushions from the couch are all over the floor and he clumsily props his knee on the pillow and asks me to marry him.
In that moment I should have yelled, "YES!"
Instead I yell, "OMG A RING! GIVE IT TO ME!"
I never responded a straight YES, but I think he knew that's what I meant.
I happily called and texted all my family and friends. Then made it "official" on Facebook!!

Everyone laughs when they hear our story... It really wasn't a fairy tale one, but it's still our proposal. We are not your typical couple if you meet us. And that's how we like it. We aren't good with surprises and I don't think we'll ever be and that's okay. We're Hyung and Sarah, that's how we roll. The most important thing is. . . we got married o9.17.11.

He proposed. She said yes.

He asked for a date.
She replied sure.
He drove.
She sang.
He offered Starbucks.
She couldn't refuse.
He ordered coffee with room for creamer.
She ordered hot cocoa but scrapped the whip.
He wanted to see the lights.
She wanted to be warm.
He squeezed her hand.
She squeezed back.
He started to get nervous.
She started to get worried.
He stopped in his tracks.
She turned around.
He got down on one knee.
She felt her heart racing.
He pulled out that little box.
She smiled the biggest smile.
He proposed.
She said yes.
They're getting married.

Here are a few pictures from our special night.

Seth hired a secret photographer .
Thank you J. Howard Photo & Video for catching our special moment.
